Tufcoat have recently completed the first stage of a project to shrink wrap bridge supports on the M6 motorway during repair and refurbishment work.
Our shrinkable scaffold sheeting has been used for shrink wrapping scaffolding structures on rail bridges and bridges over rivers and canals, but this is the first time that it has been used on the motorway network.
Shrink wrap was chosen for this project so that all dust created by the work was fully contained and could not escape on to the carriageway. Traditional scaffold sheeting such as Monarflex could not provide the level of containment required. In addition, because of the way that the shrinkable scaffold sheeting is heat shrunk to the scaffold structure, the danger of sheets detaching in high winds was much reduced.
