Project – Lots Road Power Station
Purpose – Scaffold encapsulation for containment of asbestos
Main contractor – ION Environmental
Client – Quick Fix Scaffolding Ltd.
Product – 300µm Scaffold Shrink-wrap
Tufcoat were awarded the contract to encapsulate the decommissioned Lots Road Power Station, part of the £1bn Chelsea Waterfront regeneration project.
In 2014 the site was recognised as a Conservation Area and although the Power Station is not a listed building, the redevelopment of the structure required that the buildings’ façade be preserved and incorporated into the new development.
QFS Scaffolding identified shrink-wrap to be the most adaptable product to encapsulate the internal scaffolding around the ‘branches’ and towers of the 800 tonnes of façade retention steelwork.
With the scaffold divided into 16 sections, ranging between 700 – 1800m², the project required in excess of 12,000m² of shrink-wrap installed over a 10 month period.
Brilliant quality and time saving installation, our clients have found that Tufcoat has made their project not just look better, tidier and safer but the benefits to the asbestos removal saved cost on labour and material.
Thank you for a top quality product and installation by operatives who are proud of what they are doing.
