Aviation Protection
Tufcoat Industrial shrink-wrap creates a perfectly fitted cover for the protection of aviation assets, helicopters and engines during transport, short or long term storage.
Tufcoat aviation covers are created on-site, using either our flame retardant 300µm or 190µm shrink-wrap, to create a perfectly formed cover which can be fully recycled once removed.
Unlike traditional covers which require off-site fabrication and fitting, a shrink-wrap cover can be installed in a fraction of the time and reduces the cost of maintenance and returns which often leads to damage or loss.
Shrink-wrap covers can be modified to include windows for moisture indicators which can easily be observed whilst in storage. The addition of small zipped hatches makes the replacement of desiccant a simple task without the need to completely remove the cover.
Tufcoat shrink-wrap is used extensively throughout MRO and the wider aviation industry. Our experience in this sector began in 2005 producing covers for the Airbus A380 wings in the UK, but now includes helicopters and jet engines.

Creating Shrink-Wrap Engine Covers
Sheets of shrink-wrap are roughly cut to shape, creating pleats in the material to enable the best fit prior to heating.
For this engine on a cradle, an upper and lower sheet is used, the overlap is welded to join the sheets allowing for access to the mounts.
Once the sheets are welded together any pleats are heated to weld together, lastly the remaining material is shrunk to create the final cover.
