Topside module Encapsulation – Environmental Protection – Shell Petroleum

Unlink LayersWorking with a major fabricator in Brunei for Shell Petroleum, Tufcoat shrink wrap was the preferred method for providing protection for the Malay Sungai Belait River.

The blasting yard required a topside module to be fully encapsulated due to the risks of the garnet blasting residue polluting the nearby river.

The project required over 2000m2 of Tufcoat 300µm flame retardant sheeting. This was installed by wrapping the scaffold following Tufcoat standard installation practices, involving applying heat to the film to obtain a taught finish allowing the blasting process to be contained within the scaffold structure.

As well as beginning the installation Tufcoat designed and delivered a bespoke training package to operatives based on site who then completed the project.

As part of an ongoing relationship with the fabricator Tufcoat continue to supply materials to Malaysia and have played an important part in 3 major projects.

As well as offering a support program, which has meant that new members of their team receive further training and support from our customer project manager, Tufcoat also offer technical support regarding the installation as and when required.

This project is a continuation in the oil and gas onshore sector which has seen projects completed with companies such as Hertel and Isleburn as well as the supply of our Tufcoat shrink wrap sheeting and supplies to other major companies in this sector.
